Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 31, 2026
The short version
Minutes of Thunder is a free guide site. We don't ask you to create an account, we don't sell your data, and we don't run advertising. We use Google Analytics to understand which guides people actually read, and some outbound links to RC shops are affiliate links that set a cookie when you click them. That's it.
Who we are
Minutes of Thunder is an independent RC car guide published at minutesofthunder.com. For anything in this policy, email us at markyfindmmm+minutesofthunder@mail.grokbot.com.
What we collect
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-LYGNC6WBGL) to see which pages get read, roughly where readers come from, and what devices they use. Google Analytics sets cookies (typically named _ga and _ga_*) that store a random identifier so repeat visits can be counted. We don't use Google Analytics for advertising or remarketing, and we don't attempt to identify individual readers.
Google processes this data as our service provider. You can read how Google handles it in the Google Privacy Policy, and opt out of analytics entirely with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. Most browsers also let you block cookies in their settings, and the site still works if you do.
Server logs
Our web host records standard access logs, including IP address, browser type, the page requested, and the date and time. Hosts keep these for security and troubleshooting.
Affiliate links
Some links to RC shops are affiliate links. If you click one, the shop or its affiliate network sets a cookie in your browser so that a later purchase can be credited to this site. That cookie is set by the merchant, not by us, and its lifetime is set by their program (typically 30 to 45 days). We never see your name, address, card details, or what you bought — only aggregate reports such as how many clicks a page sent and what commission it earned. Our disclosure page lists the programs we take part in.
Email, if you sign up
If you choose to join an email list here, we'll ask for your email address and store it with our email provider for the purpose of sending you RC guides and updates. Every message will include an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you from the list. We won't sell or share the list. This section applies once an email signup exists on the site.
Cookies
Cookies on this site fall into two groups: Google Analytics cookies, and cookies set by a merchant or affiliate network after you click an affiliate link. We don't use cookies for advertising or profiling. Clearing your browser cookies removes all of them, and the site keeps working.
Your rights
If you're in Canada, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) applies, and in Quebec, Law 25. If you're in the European Economic Area or the UK, the GDPR gives you the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data, and to object to it. You can ask us what analytics data relates to your visits, ask us to delete it, or ask us to stop using analytics cookies for you. Email us and we'll respond within 30 days. Note that we hold no account records, because there are no accounts.
Children
This site is written for adults and older teenagers interested in the RC hobby. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Material changes, such as adding advertising or an email list, will be described here.
